Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before you start. Can’t find your answer? We’re happy to help.

Yes, for your day-to-day record keeping. FlockNest is offline-first: you can record eggs, feed, sales, vaccinations and deaths with no signal at all. Everything is saved securely on your phone and syncs to the cloud automatically the next time you are online. A few things do need a connection: syncing, AI insights, weather advice, inviting team members, and starting or restoring a subscription.

In the mobile app, your records are stored encrypted on your phone and backed up to secure cloud servers when you sync. You can also lock the app with your fingerprint or face, with your password as a backup. You can download a copy of your data or close your account and its records at any time.

No. FlockNest gives advisory tips and early warnings based on your records and the weather, for example by flagging a drop in production or a possible heat-stress day. It never diagnoses disease or recommends medicines or dosages. For health treatment, always consult a qualified vet.

Yes. You can add a quick health check covering sick birds, droppings and behaviour to your daily report, open disease cases for a flock, and log treatments. FlockNest tracks each treatment’s withdrawal period and reminds you before you sell eggs or birds too early, and it raises alerts for things like mortality spikes, production drops and sick birds. You can export a case to PDF to share with your vet. FlockNest helps you record and spot problems early, but it never diagnoses disease or prescribes medicine. Always consult a qualified vet.

You start with a 30-day free trial of all features. After that, FlockNest is a low-cost premium subscription (monthly or annual). The exact price and currency for your region are shown in the app before you subscribe.

Yes. You can invite your team by link or code and give each person a role, whether manager, worker or sales rep, so they only see and do what they should. Managers help run the farm, workers record the daily work, and sales reps record sales without seeing your costs. Everyone records their own work and it all rolls up to you, the owner.

No. The subscription belongs to the farm, not to each person. When a farm is on its free trial or on Premium, everyone you invite to it gets full use of the app in their role at no extra cost.

Yes. Tell FlockNest your feed bag weight and it converts between bags and kilograms wherever you record feed, so you can buy by the bag and still get correct stock levels and costs. Set how many eggs are in your crate and what a crate costs, and egg sales work in crates with the packaging cost taken off your revenue. You can set the stock level at which FlockNest warns you that feed is running low. You can also switch the app between light and dark, or let it follow your phone.

Yes. FlockNest reminds you to log your daily report at the time that suits you, in your local timezone. It also alerts you when a vaccination is due, when a treatment’s withdrawal period ends, and before your feed or vaccine stock runs low. It also sends health alerts for things like mortality spikes and production drops.

Your own. FlockNest picks your local currency automatically from your country when you sign up, so prices, sales, expenses and profit all show in the money you actually use, whether that is naira, shillings, cedis, rupees or anything else.

Yes. When you add a flock, FlockNest can suggest a typical vaccination programme for broilers or for layers, covering common vaccines such as Marek’s, Newcastle, Gumboro and fowl pox. You can adjust every date and dose, see whether you have matching doses in stock, tick each one off when it is given, and get reminded when one is due or overdue. The suggested programme is a starting point, so confirm it with your vet for your area.

FlockNest runs on Android and iPhone (iOS), and there is a web version for your computer or tablet. On a phone you only need a fairly recent model and an internet connection now and then to sync.

Yes. FlockNest has a web version that you open in your browser and sign in to with the same account, so it works on a laptop, desktop or tablet. Your records sync between the web version and your phone, and you can install it from the browser so it opens like any other app. A few things are only on the phone app: subscribing (you subscribe once through the App Store or Google Play, and it covers the web version too), fingerprint or face lock, receipt photos and on-device encryption.

Chickens: layers, broilers and dual-purpose birds, and you can run them side by side on the same farm. You can pick from 20 common breeds, including ISA Brown, Lohmann Brown, Ross 308, Cobb 500, Arbor Acres, Noiler, Kuroiler and Sasso, or type in your own. Layer flocks get egg production, laying rate and production trends. Broiler flocks get day-by-day age, weight sampling against your breed’s growth target, feed conversion ratio, culls, harvest and a cycle close-out showing your cost per kg and profit. FlockNest asks for what each type actually needs, so a broiler farmer is never sent through egg-production screens.

Yes. FlockNest has a Finance section where you record every cost, whether feed, birds, health, labour, utilities, equipment, housing, transport, packaging or admin, with the vendor, payment method and whether it is paid or still owed. Set monthly budgets per category and FlockNest tracks how you are doing against them. The profit and loss view puts revenue against expenses for any period, so you see real profit, not just sales. You can also set up recurring costs like rent or wages so they are offered to you each period instead of being forgotten.

Only the farm owner and manager. Workers never see farm money at all. Sales reps can record and review sales, but cannot see expenses, budgets or profit figures, and financial insights are never shown to either of them. This is enforced on our servers too, not just hidden in the app, so their devices never receive the numbers in the first place.

You weigh a sample of birds every week or so and record the average. FlockNest compares that against the published growth target for your breed, whether Ross 308, Cobb 500 or a general standard, and shows whether you are ahead or behind, along with your daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio. When a flock reaches its target harvest age or weight, FlockNest tells you it is ready. All of it works offline; no internet is needed to see how your birds are doing.

Yes. You can export your production records, sales history and broiler weight records to PDF or Excel, and a disease case or a closed broiler cycle as a shareable PDF, to send to partners, buyers, your vet or your accountant. Expenses and stock movements are kept in full history screens inside the app, and everything you record is backed up to your account when you sync. You can also download a complete copy of your account data from Settings whenever you like.
